How does an individual judge what’s right or wrong?

farmer.jpgAn individual judges what's right from wrong depending on their personal circumstances. In this chapter the individual is found in a situation where the food is plentiful but their economic status won't allow them to purchase the product. “We can't pay wages, no matter what wages." (pg.347) The farm owners would take advantage of the lower people by dumping their potatoes in the rivers and place guards to keep the hungry out. The hungry people can do nothing about it and just watch the injustice take place and they can't do anything about it because they have no power. The right thing to do would be to increase the workers wages in order for the products to be purchasable.

Another right thing for a worker to do is just work under the unfair conditions and accept the low wages received in order to survive. They should make the best of the situation. If they don't work, they don't eat. In addition, the workers may not find another job than just picking fruits.
